Two Years. Two Months.

Olivia is officially 2 years old! She has been walking around the house for the past four days dancing and singing "it's my birthday, it's my birthday". She does this only because Chuck has been singing the 50 Cent song In the Club (with some minor adjustments to make it kid appropriate) to her. On Saturday, Olivia had her first Chuck E Cheese experience and then talked about it for days after. Now, I am very intrigued with the fact that there were several people who appeared to be rather white trashish at Chuck E Cheese's. This then led me to wonder how they could afford such a pricey joint. Lord knows they were dropping tons of money on tokens, which would allow them to win more tickets, which in turn they would spend on crappy toys they could have bought at the dollar store for oh let's see........ a dollar. I took Olivia's actual birthday off and we had her 2 year pictures taken, went to the play place in the mall and then to lunch. We then celebrated with cake and ice cream that night with family.

Elliot had his 2 month check-up and he is doing well. He is very healthy and apparently hefty. Elliot is in the 23%ile for head circumference, 74%ile for weight and 12%ile for height. He's a squatty toad (nurse Brandi was right). Dr. Wadle looked at me and said "he's a little short". Ya think? Hopefully, he will stretch out and not require husky jeans by the time he is 1.

Elliot has had 3 adjustments and appears to be doing better. He is still grunty and gassy at times, but overall seems far more relaxed and calm. He can also turn his head to the left now, which he was unable to do prior to the adjustments. We go back for his 4th adjustment tomorrow.

Olivia counted to 10 by herself the other day and sings the ABC song (just the beginning of it). She continues to amaze me.

Stay tuned for 2 year pics!

We're Back . . . . .

Holy crud, it's been forever! A ton has taken place since the last blog post, which most of you already know about. Elliot has arrived, so of course the blog will now also include interesting facts and tidbits about him, as well as Olivia.

Where to begin....Well, Elliot is 8 weeks today and I am about ready to pull my hair out. He was quiet and content for the 2 1/2 days we were in the hospital and then it just went downhill. Yip, he's colic. However, he is not a "typical" or "normal" colic kid (now why would either of my kids follow the norm, in this case I am glad he didn't). As opposed to crying constantly, Elliot grunts, makes noises, squirms and is constantly in motion. He sounds like a mountain goat and it drives me nuts. With that said, I would rather have a mountain goat of a son, than a crying lunatic of a son. Things have progressively gotten worse and the crying has started, but still tolerable. We have spent a crap ton of money on herbal remedies that appear to work and then let us down. Elliot has his first chiropractic adjustment today. Fingers crossed that this will help.

Not only is Elliot a mountain goat, he is a chunky mountain goat. He has a nice full round belly and weighs 12 lbs. 2 oz. Technically, weight wise he can wear 9 month cloths, but length wise he could still get away with newborn sizes. He is squaty and plump. Marvelous. Nurse Brandi at the pediatric clinic says he looks like a little toad with his round gut and short little legs and arms (lucky for her she is a friend of mine from high school).

Olivia has taken to Elliot very well. The first thing she said when she saw him was "he's tute". Whenever Elliot is upset, especially when we are in the car, she tells him "It's otay buddy, we're going bye bye. It's otay". Just recently she has started calling him "little man".

You would never know that Olivia has a mom who is loud and talks a lot (yeah right). The kid has one volume and there is no other way to describe it other than saying ungodly loud. She also talks up a storm and is putting sentences together and saying new words every day. Last night she was muttering something in disgust and I distinctly heard her end her rant by saying "ridiculous". When I asked her to repeat it, she said it again. Hmm, wonder where she has heard that word before?

Olivia has proven that she is officially a "big girl" by throwing her binkys away, all 5 of them. We had a couple rough nights and days of napping, but the binkys are gone and she hasn't asked for it since the 2nd night of not having it.

Many of you would be proud to hear that Olivia finally allows me to read to her. We read every day and some days for over an hour. One of her favorite books to look at is a book of animals. When I point to them she can name butterfly, froggy, cow, rabbit, pig, horse, chicks, mouse, duck, lion, bear, fish, dog, cat, tiger, snake and my top 3 favorite elephant, penguin and CROCODILE (it's great listening to her say that). She can also make the sounds for these animals, except for the ones I don't even know. I mean what sound does a butterfly make?

As of lately, Olivia has found it fun to wear my underwear or bra (yes they are clean) around her neck and trapse around the house. Weird. She also spends her time dancing to her Phineas and Ferb soundtrack and making up her own songs to sing at the kitchen table during dinner. She is quite the entertainer.

Time certainky does fly, as Olivia will be 2 in a week. Stay tuned, I am sure things will get interesting...
