Olivia had her one year check-up and shots today. It was pretty uneventful. Oh wait, did I say uneventful? What I meant to say was that Olivia was a possessed demon when the lab tech poked her finger for a blood draw. She made it through the two shots with about a 3 second cry (and gave Brandi her nurse "the eye"), but the blood draw was an entirely different story. The poke alone made her cry, but then the tech had to keep squeezing her poor little finger to get a tube full. You would have thought we were trying to suck snot out of her nose (she's a demon then too). I could barely keep hold of her, as she was twisting and trashing. Olivia finally turned her body about 180 degrees, braced her feet against the counter next to us and pushed with all her might. Not fun. Ridiculous. Heartbreaking. Now you all know that I am not a mushy person and yes, I even laughed some when Olivia received her first shots, but this almost made me cry. I know she wasn't really in pain, but she sure as heck did not want that lady touching her anymore. As soon as the lady let go, Olivia immediately stopped crying. Oh, the drama. She was given a cool purple bandaid for her finger, which she promptly ate off. Serious. She had chunks of it in her mouth. That kid.
Anyway, Olivia is just about the 50%ile for height (28 inches something) and weight (21 lbs). However, she has reverted back to having a Beetlejuice head, and is in the 25%ile for head circumference. I just don't understand. Her doctor said that she should not be drinking from a bottle anymore (for sure not by 15 months). Olivia still takes 4 bottles a day, so Kim, being the great day car provider that she is, started weaning her off of the mid morning one today. Hopefully, we can wean a bottle a week, so in about 4 weeks we should be good. With that said, Olivia's doctor did say that the bedtime bottle is the hardest to get rid of, so it may be longer than 4 weeks. We also need to give her apple/prune juice on a daily basis, as the no popping issue has returned. Other than that all is well and we have a happy, healthy, small headed non-pooper.
Olivia took 15 steps last night.
