Poor Baby

This COULD be a really long story, so I will do my best to make it short, but you know me.

After having a great Friday at Kim's, spending a little time with Grandma while I took KB to the vet after work (more on that later) a quick trip to the grocery store and some socializing with our neighbor Olivia began crying pretty much non-stop starting at 6:00 p.m. until she fell asleep around 6:30. However, before falling asleep I took her temp, as I thought she felt a little warm. Sure enough she had a temp of 100.4. Nothing a little Tylenol wouldn't cure. I checked on her throughout the evening and her fever had broke. By 10:15 though she was burning up and had a temp of 103. So, we packed up the family truckster and headed to the ER (I had no clue what to do with a temp of 103). Well, come to find out Olivia had a respiratory virus, which the doctor said would more than likley last 5-7 days. He also told us that things would get worse before they got better and that puss pockets would probably form on her tonsils and for us not to be surprised if her temp got up tp 105-106 (Umm, yikes). He gave us a prescription for Tylenol with codeine for her throat pain and said to use Motrin for her temp. So, off we went back home.

Come Saturday Olivia was acting pretty happy and her temp was pretty much back to normal. Whew, we escaped the crude. So I thought. By Sunday morning her temp was back up to 102 and she spent a good portion of the day on my lap. This morning her temp was still 102 and her food intake had decreased and her liquid intake practically diminished. I called our clinic and because Olivia had only had 1 wet diaper in an 8 hour period and had only drank about 4 oz. of liquid all day they said that if she did not have a wet diaper by 8 p.m. this evening then we needed to return to the ER for an IV drip. Olivia must have heard what was up, because her diaper was wet and she then drank 8 oz. of juice (from a bottle, but she drank it none the less).

Now here is a long story short about KB. He has had a small internal blood blister in his left ear flap for some time. The vet popped it once and said if it came back not to worry unless it got bigger. Of course it is now A LOT bigger. At the vet on Friday she drained it with a needle and it immediately filled back up with more blood. So, KB is now scheduled for minor ear surgery (and a dental cleaning) next Tuesday.

On a happy note, Olivia said Grandma today, twice.
