18 Month Check-up

So, I finally figured out why Olivia was having a hard time sleeping and had a her temp for a few days. As we were eating dinner the other night Olivia started screaming bloody murder. So, I of course took this opportunity to take a look in her wailing mouth and found 2 new teeth that had just started breaking through the skin. The poor thing couldn't even eat rice that night for dinner. Things have since calmed down and she is back to normal. Whatever normal is.

The verdict is in and Olivia is officially a peanut and obviously does not have my genes. According to our pediatrician she is in the 25%ile for weight, height and head circumference (no suprise on that one). However, she is healthy as can be and there are no concerns. Dr. Wadle was impressed with Olivia's vocabulary and knowledge of body parts and animal sounds, as well as with her outgoing personality. Olivia received 2 shots, but no more until 4years old. She handled the shots well with just a moment of crying (less than 20 seconds) and gave Nurse Brandi "the eye". However, I think the side effects of the shots are kicking in, as she is currently taking her nap and just woke up sobbing and feeling very warm.

Unfortunately, Olivia is going through one of the many phases she will face along her journey of toddlerhood. She just happens to hit anyone or anything that crosses her path. I'm not talking just a little love pat here. I'm talking open palm, full fledged slaps across the face or upside the head. Nice. Kim, as well as Dr. Wadle assured me that this is normal and all kids go though either hitting, biting or both. Now, my dad would say that she is just taking after her mom and being a bully.

She sure doesn't take after her gentle and loving father, that is for sure!
